David Dunlop
David Dunlop’s paintings are very much a response to the places and experiences that have shaped his life. The local landscape of his childhood home in Missouri and his many summers spent in Cape Cod continue to inspire his work to this day. Dunlop’s work captures the beautiful solitude of the landscape with it’s effects of light and atmosphere. He achieves a soft-focus realism by the use of oils and translucent glazes which makes his color vibrate. Dunlop has a diverse range and incredible technical abilities with color, texture, composition, and variety in size. The work demonstrates his love for the landscape and his passion for painting.
“I suspect that one of the dynamics to my work is my ability to change. It causes me to explore new adventures. I have come to realize that painting has become a part of me, and that I have become part of a long tradition of painting.”
